The 5 Love Languages

For anyone who's in a relationship, you have definitely heard of the 5 different types of love languages. Understand the type of love language your partner responds to the most is the secret to a long lasting relationship. So, what are the five love languages?

Words of Affirmation

Some people respond most to words, or more speficially, compliments. These compliments can definitely make your partner's day, and it does not have to be overly complicated. Simple praises can be the most effective.

"Your hair looks great today!"
"You look stunning in this dress today."

Take the time to actually think of something that is relevant and praise your partner! No one will ever get sick of compliments.

Acts of Service

If actions speak louder than words, this is the love language for you. Putting in time to make little cards, cooking a meal, sending food to his or her workplace will show that you care. But of course, put some thought into it and do something that your partner will actually like!

Receiving Gifts

Materialistic or not? It is all dependent on your partner and you should find that out for yourself. For the most part, it does not mean that your partner is materialistic. It just means that your partner will feel loved and appreciated. It mostly goes hand in hand with the acts of service as a simple gift like a hand-made card will suffice too.

Quality Time

This love language is all about undivided attention. No televisions, no smartphones, or any other distractions. Planning an awesome date night is a good way to show your undivided attention to your partner. Sometimes it is not easy putting aside all the distractions but once you do, you might also feel more at peace without your smartphones.a sense of trust and cooperation that strengthens our bonds with others.

Everytime you cancel a date or postpone time together, it could be extremely hurtful to your partner as it can make them feel like you don't care about them.

Physical Touch

Cuddling up on the couch and binge watching Netflix together? What's there not to love about it. If this is your partner's love language, make them feel connected and safe in a relationship by holding hands, kissing, hugging, etc.

If this is your partner's primary love lanugage, they will feel unloved without physical contact. No words in the world can make up for that. Just be close by, not just emotionally but also physically!
